Mint Mojito Mocktail

This non-alcoholic mojito is a refreshing summer drink with lime, mint and sparkling water that cools you down perfectly without a drop of alcohol. Thanks to the cane sugar and crushed ice, it tastes balanced, lightly citrusy and very clean. It is ideal for an afternoon get-together, a picnic or a family celebration.

Step by step process

Preparation

  1. 1

Wash the limes thoroughly. Slice one into thin rounds and cut the other into smaller wedges so it releases more juice into the drink.

  2. 2

Place the lime wedges, cane sugar and eight sprigs of mint into a larger bowl or pitcher. Then gently muddle everything so the juice and aroma are released, but the leaves do not turn bitter.

  3. 3

Add the ice cubes and a few lime slices. Then briefly stir the mixture so the sugar starts to dissolve and the flavors come together.

Finish

  1. 4

Pour in the sparkling water, stir gently with a long spoon and taste to check whether the drink is fresh enough and the sweetness is balanced.

  2. 5

Divide the mocktail among four glasses together with the ice. Add the remaining mint and a few lime slices to each one so the drink looks fresh and stays nicely chilled.

Serving

  1. 6

Serve immediately after mixing, while the drink is still highly sparkling, the ice has not yet diluted the flavor and the mint remains intensely aromatic.

More tips:

If you want a milder flavor, let the lime, sugar and mint sit for two minutes before adding the sparkling water.

You can replace part of the sparkling water with tonic water if you want a more pronounced bittersweet note without alcohol.
