Refreshing homemade mojito
Ingredients
Step by step process
Preparation of lime and mint
- 1
Start your mojito with the limes: wash the lime thoroughly under cold water and cut it into eighths. Place half a lime (4 pieces) into each glass so the citrus can release its juice.
- 2
Add 1 tablespoon of cane sugar and 5 fresh mint leaves to each glass.
Pressing and stirring
- 3
Using a citrus press or the back of a spoon, gently crush the lime together with the sugar and mint leaves to release the juices and the fragrant aroma without tearing the mint.
Adding ice and rum
- 4
Add a handful of crushed ice or a few ice cubes to each glass.
- 5
Pour 50 ml of white rum into each glass.
Filling and mixing
- 6
Top up each glass with 100 ml of soda water.
- 7
Gently stir everything with a bar spoon to blend the flavors.
Decoration and serving
- 8
Garnish each glass with a slice of lime and a sprig of fresh mint. Serve immediately with a straw.
More tips:
For a non-alcoholic version, simply omit the rum and add more soda water.
If you like sweeter cocktails, you can add more cane sugar to taste.
Always use fresh mint, which gives the mojito the right aroma and taste.
