Strawberry Salad with Mint
Ingredients
Step by step process
Preparation
- 1
For the strawberry salad, rinse the strawberries under cold water, remove the stems, and pat dry with paper towels. Slice larger strawberries into slices or quarters, leave smaller ones whole, and place them in a large bowl.
- 2
Finely grate the lime zest, then cut the lime in half and squeeze out the juice. Strain the juice if it contains pieces of pulp or seeds.
- 3
Rinse the fresh mint, dry it, and either tear or finely chop it into small pieces so it distributes better in the salad.
Mixing
- 4
Add the grated lime zest, lime juice, and cane sugar to the strawberries. If you prefer a less sweet result, reduce the sugar to taste.
- 5
Add the chopped fresh mint and gently toss everything together to combine the flavors. Let the salad rest at room temperature for 5 minutes to allow the strawberries to release some juice and the flavors to meld.
Serving
- 6
Divide the strawberry salad among bowls or glasses and serve immediately. Garnish with a sprig of mint and, if desired, a wedge of lime on the rim.
More tips:
Use only ripe, fragrant strawberries. The salad will be tastiest and sweetest.
To enhance the salad's sweetness, briefly chill the sugared strawberries in the refrigerator before serving.
