Grenadine
Grenadine is a sweet, deep-red syrup originally made from pomegranate juice. Today it is most commonly produced from a blend of fruit juices, sugar, and colorings. In bartending and cooking, it is added to cocktails such as Shirley Temple, Tequila Sunrise, and Sex on the Beach, giving them their signature red color and sweet fruity flavor. It is also used to flavor non-alcoholic drinks, sodas, and lemonades. In pastry making, the syrup is used in ice creams, gelatins, and desserts. Grenadine has a very intense color, so only a small amount is needed.
