Gin and Tonic
Ingredients
Step by step process
Preparation
- 1
Chill the tonic and glasses in the refrigerator so the drink stays fizzy and fresh for longer.
- 2
Fill each of the four highball glasses to the brim with ice. Cut the lime into wedges on a cutting board.
Mixing
- 3
Measure about 50 ml of gin into each glass and pour it over the ice.
- 4
Top each glass with roughly 150 ml of tonic and stir gently once or twice to avoid losing carbonation.
TIP:For a gentle fizz, pour the tonic down the side of a glass filled with ice and stir only a few light motions around the inside of the glass to keep the bubbles in and the drink refreshing.
Serving
- 5
Squeeze a lime wedge over the drink to taste, drop it into the glass, and serve immediately well chilled.
TIP:Give the lime a quick twist over the glass, then rub it around the rim. The essential oils are released, enhancing the drink's aroma.
More tips:
Use plenty of ice: the more cubes, the slower they melt and the less the drink is diluted.
Choose a dry gin with pronounced juniper and a high-quality, very fizzy tonic. adjust the ratio to taste between 1:2.5 and 1:4.
