Celery Detox Smoothie
Ingredients
Step by step process
Smoothie Preparation
- 1
Wash the celery stalks under running water and chop them into smaller pieces suitable for the blender. Celery is the heart of this celery detox smoothie and gives it its signature fresh flavor and aroma.
TIP:Hold the stalk firmly and slice the celery across the fibers for uniform pieces. This technique also works for other vegetables in the kitchen.
- 2
Core the apples and peel if desired. Cut the apples and cucumber into roughly 2-3 cm cubes so they blend more easily.
- 3
Wash the lemon thoroughly, trim the ends, and squeeze the juice into a bowl. Lemon juice prevents the apple from browning and adds a fresh, slightly tart note.
- 4
Peel the ginger with a spoon or peeler and grate it finely. A piece about 2 cm is enough to give the drink a pleasant, mildly spicy warmth.
Blending
- 5
Place all prepared ingredients into the blender. If you have a powerful blender, 30 to 60 seconds at full speed is enough.
- 6
Add water, the lemon juice, and a teaspoon of honey if desired to mellow the flavor. Honey is optional, the smoothie tastes great without it.
TIP:Add lemon juice gradually and monitor the acidity. Tasting as you go will let you fine-tune the sweetness after the final tasting with honey or another sweetener.
- 7
Blend until completely smooth and silky.
Serving
- 8
Pour the finished smoothie into 4 glasses. For the best result, serve immediately after blending while it is chilled and full of nutrients.
- 9
Garnish with fresh mint and serve right away.
TIP:Gently rub the mint leaves between your palms just before serving to release the aroma of the essential oils. They can also be torn and sprinkled on top for a fresh aroma.
More tips:
For extra refreshment, add a few ice cubes while blending.
If you prefer a thinner smoothie, add more water or use coconut water.
