Blue Hawaii with Rum and Curaçao
Ingredients
Step by step process
Preparing the Glasses
- 1
Chill four tall cocktail glasses, hurricane or highball, in the freezer for at least ten minutes so the drink stays cold longer.
- 2
Prepare slices of fresh pineapple and cocktail cherries for garnish. cut the slices so they can be slipped onto the rim of the glass.
Mixing the Cocktail
- 3
Into a cocktail shaker filled with ice, pour the white rum, blue curaçao, pineapple juice, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and optionally coconut cream for a silkier texture.
- 4
Seal the shaker tightly and shake vigorously for approximately fifteen to twenty seconds, until the outside of the shaker fogs up and the contents are perfectly chilled and combined.
TIP:Seal the shaker tightly and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds. Condensation forming on the outer surface is a sign of proper chilling and mixing, the key to achieving the perfect cocktail flavor.
- 5
Place large ice cubes into the chilled glasses, filling them to about two-thirds, so the drink stays icy throughout.
Serving
- 6
Strain the finished cocktail carefully through a fine sieve into the prepared ice-filled glasses, so no small ice chips from the shaker get into the drink.
- 7
Place a slice of fresh pineapple on the rim of each glass, thread a cocktail cherry onto a skewer, and garnish with a mint leaf for a fresh aroma.
- 8
Serve immediately with a straw, while the drink is an intense blue, well chilled, and aromatic.
More tips:
For a more pronounced tropical flavor, add a tablespoon of Coco López coconut cream to the shaker, the drink will take on a creamier texture close to a Piña Colada.
