Ham Rolls with Blue Cheese
Ingredients
Step by step process
Preparing the filling
- 1
Ham rolls start with the filling - finely grate the blue cheese into a large bowl.
- 2
Stir in the sour cream and finely chopped chives, which bring a fresh, mild onion note to balance the strong cheese.
- 3
Mix with a whisk until smooth, then season with salt and pepper to taste.
- 4
The filling should be creamy and firm enough to spread without slipping off. If it crumbles, stir in another teaspoon of sour cream. If it is too loose, chill it for 10 minutes to firm up.
Assembling the rolls
- 5
Using a spoon or small spatula, spread an even layer of filling over each slice of ham all the way to the edges, leaving just a few millimeters clear so the filling does not squeeze out when rolling.
- 6
Roll the filled slice away from you into a tight cylinder, pressing gently as you go to seal the edges.
- 7
Give each roll a final light press with your palm and place seam-side down so it holds its shape.
- 8
Cut diagonally into smaller pieces if needed - they are easier to pick up and look great on the plate.
Serving
- 9
Lay the finished rolls seam-side down on a serving plate or wooden board.
- 10
Serve chilled and garnish with a fresh sprig of chives.
More tips:
Refrigerate the rolls for 30 minutes before serving - they firm up nicely and are easier to slice.
Blue cheese has a strong flavor, so taste the filling as you go and add salt carefully - the cheese itself is already quite salty.
