Apricots
Apricots are small stone fruits originating from Central Asia and now cultivated worldwide. They have a golden-orange to yellow skin, tender flesh and a sweet-tart flavour with a distinctive aroma. They are enjoyed fresh, but also dried, preserved or processed into jams, compotes and juices. In the kitchen, they are used in desserts, cakes, tarts and savoury dishes alike, they pair particularly well with poultry and game. Apricots are a rich source of beta-carotene, vitamin C, potassium and dietary fibre. Dried apricots are a popular snack and a common ingredient in muesli and Middle Eastern dishes. The fresh fruit season typically runs from June to August.
