Single-Ingredient Banana Nice Cream
Ingredients
Step by step process
Prep and freezing
- 1
For banana nice cream, choose well-ripened bananas with speckled skin. The riper they are, the sweeter and creamier the result will be.
- 2
Peel the bananas and slice them into rounds about 1 cm thick. Smaller pieces blend faster and more evenly.
- 3
Spread the rounds in a single layer on a plate or a tray lined with baking paper so they don't stick together.
- 4
Put the plate in the freezer and freeze the bananas for at least 3 hours, ideally overnight, until they are completely solid.
Blending and serving
- 5
Put the frozen bananas into a powerful blender or food processor. Pulse them into small pieces.
- 6
Keep blending until smooth. At first the bananas will be crumbly, then they start to come together into a smooth, creamy mass that resembles soft serve. Scrape down the sides of the container as needed.
- 7
If you want to flavor the dessert, add vanilla extract or cocoa to the blended mass and mix briefly until smooth.
- 8
Serve the finished nice cream right away as soft serve, or put it in the freezer for 30 minutes so it firms up a little and can be scooped into balls.
More tips:
Always freeze the bananas already sliced into rounds. A blender can barely process whole frozen bananas and you risk overloading it.
Riper bananas with dark spots are sweeter, so the nice cream needs no added sweetener.
