Homemade lemonade with honey and basil
Ingredients
Step by step process
Preparation
- 1
Wash the lemons thoroughly, cut them in half, and use a citrus juicer to extract the juice. For a smoother lemonade, strain it through a fine sieve into a bowl.
TIP:First, gently press the lemon to release the juice more easily. Cut it in half and squeeze the juice using a juicer or a handheld press. Strain through a fine sieve so that only clear juice remains, with no pulp or seeds.
- 2
From the measured 1 liter of water, pour about 100 ml of lukewarm water into a bowl and thoroughly mix the honey in it until fully dissolved.
Mixing
- 3
Pour the strained lemon juice into a pitcher, add the honey solution and the remaining cold water. Taste and adjust the ratio of water to honey according to your preferred sweetness.
- 4
Tear the basil between your fingers to release its aroma. add it to the pitcher and stir gently.
TIP:Gently bruising fresh herbs between your palms releases their essential oils and aroma. Pounding would only damage them. Ideal for activating herbs before adding to drinks, salads, and dishes.
Serving
- 5
Place a few ice cubes in glasses, pour the lemonade over them, and place 1 lemon slice in each.
- 6
Garnish with basil leaves and serve chilled.
More tips:
For a sparkling version, replace half of the water with well-chilled soda water and first dissolve the honey in a small amount of still water so it retains its aroma.
