Caipirinha cocktail with cachaça and lime
Ingredients
Step by step process
Preparing the lime
- 1
For the caipirinha wash the lime thoroughly, cut off both ends and chop it, peel and all, into small pieces. Drop them into the bottom of a sturdy, low glass.
- 2
Sprinkle the lime with cane sugar and gently crush it with a muddler or a wooden spoon so it releases its juice. Press lightly. Otherwise the peel turns bitter.
Mixing the drink
- 3
Fill the glass almost to the rim with ice cubes and pour the chilled cachaça over them. Do not skimp on ice. Stir briefly but thoroughly so the sugar and lime juice blend with the alcohol.
Serving
- 4
Garnish the finished drink with a lime wheel on the rim of the glass. Serve it right away. It tastes best well chilled and freshly mixed, while the ice has not yet started to melt.
More tips:
Keep an eye on the sweetness, adjust the amount of cane sugar to the sourness of the lime.
Instead of ice cubes try crushed ice, the drink chills faster and frosts up beautifully.
