Step by step process

Preparation

  1. 1

Pour plain yogurt and cold water into a blender in the stated ratio, add salt and fresh mint.

  2. 2

Blend for 20-30 seconds until smooth, until the drink slightly froths and the mint releases a fresh aroma.

Cooking

  1. 3

Do not cook or heat this drink. After blending, chill briefly in the refrigerator for extra refreshment.

Serving

  1. 4

Pour the ayran into a carafe and divide between 4 glasses. Adjust seasoning to taste and serve chilled.

More tips:

Adjust thickness with the amount of water: for a lighter Ayran, increase the water up to a ratio of 1:2. for a creamier version, reduce it.

If you only have dried mint, use a pinch and let the drink rest for 5 minutes to allow the herb to release its aroma.
