Homemade iced tea with lemon and mint

Jakub SýkoraDrinkCzech Cuisine x se líbilo
You make homemade iced tea by pouring hot water over black tea and steeping it for 4 minutes, then removing the leaves. You stir honey into the hot brew, let it cool and pour it into a jug with crushed mint and lemon slices. You chill everything in the fridge for at least 2 hours so the flavors blend. Before serving you fill glasses with ice and top them with the chilled drink.

Step by step process

Preparing and steeping

  1. 1

To make this homemade iced tea, bring the water to a boil in a kettle, then let it rest for a minute so the tea does not turn bitter.

  2. 2

Pour the hot water over the black tea and steep for 4 minutes. Then lift out the leaves or bags.

Flavoring and chilling

  1. 3

Stir in the honey until it dissolves, then let the brew cool down.

  2. 4

Gently bruise the mint between your palms to release its aroma and add it to a large pitcher with the lemon slices.

  3. 5

Pour the cooled tea into the pitcher, stir, and chill the iced tea in the fridge for at least 2 hours so the flavors mingle.

Serving

  1. 6

Before serving, fill the glasses with ice and pour over the chilled drink.

More tips:

For a stronger flavor, steep the tea with mint overnight in the fridge and add the lemon just before serving.
