Peach Iced Tea

Homemade peach iced tea with mint is a light, fragrant, and pleasantly refreshing drink for hot days. Black tea is complemented by briefly simmered peaches, which give it natural sweetness and a fruity flavor. Serve it well chilled with ice and lemon slices.

Step by step process

Tea Base

  1. 1

Wash two peaches, remove the pits, and cut them into smaller pieces. Wash the lemon thoroughly and slice one half into rounds.

  2. 2

Pour the water into a saucepan, add the chopped peaches, sugar, and half of the mint, bring to a boil, and simmer gently for about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

Remove the saucepan from the heat, add the black tea bags, and let them steep for 4 to 5 minutes so the drink is full-flavored but not bitter.

  4. 4

Strain the tea through a sieve into a larger container, add the lemon juice from the other half of the lemon, and let it cool completely.

  5. 5

Refrigerate the cooled tea for at least 1 hour so the flavors can meld and the drink becomes truly refreshing.

Serving

  1. 6

Cut the remaining peach into thin wedges and divide it, together with the lemon slices, among glasses filled with ice.

  2. 7

Pour in the well-chilled peach tea, garnish with fresh mint, and serve immediately while the drink is ice cold.

More tips:

If you want a milder, fruitier flavor, let the peaches cool in the tea for 10 minutes longer before straining the drink.

You can replace some of the sugar with honey, but stir it in only once the tea is warm, not boiling, so it keeps its distinctive flavor.
