Grilled Pineapple with Cinnamon
Ingredients
Step by step process
Preparing the pineapple
- 1
For the grilled pineapple, peel a fresh pineapple, cut off the leafy top and remove the tough core. Cut the flesh into thicker slices or wedges so they hold their shape on the grill and do not fall apart.
- 2
Melt the butter and stir in the honey. Brush the resulting glaze over both sides of the fruit slices and dust them evenly with ground cinnamon.
Grilling and serving
- 3
Heat the grill or a grill pan to medium-high. Lightly brush the surface with the remaining butter so the fruit does not stick.
- 4
Lay the slices on the hot grate and grill for 3 to 4 minutes per side, until they develop golden stripes and the edges caramelize.
- 5
Transfer the fruit to a plate and let it rest for a minute so the juices settle and the slices are easy to serve.
- 6
Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a spoonful of thick yogurt to the warm slices and, if you like, drizzle them with the remaining honey glaze.
More tips:
You can tell a ripe pineapple by the sweet scent near the base and by the leaves that pull easily from the crown. Such fruit makes the juiciest dessert.
