Coffee frappé with absinthe

Jakub SýkoraDrinkGreek Cuisine x se líbilo
You make coffee frappé with absinthe by mixing chilled strong espresso with sugar, absinthe and milk to taste. You pour everything into a blender with ice and blend for 30 to 45 seconds until a thick, stable foam forms. You divide the frappé into tall glasses and dilute with a few ice cubes if needed. You garnish with a lemon slice and serve immediately ice-cold.

Step by step process

Preparation

  1. 1

Put the ice into the blender and set out 4 tall glasses.

  2. 2

Brew a strong black coffee (200 ml of espresso or cold brew) and let it cool. Pour the cooled coffee into a bowl, add sugar, and stir briefly.

  3. 3

Add the absinthe and milk if desired. Pour everything into the blender jug.

Blending

  1. 4

Blend on high speed for 30-45 seconds until a thick, stable foam forms and the drink is well chilled.

  2. 5

Divide the frappé with its foam between 4 glasses. Add a few extra ice cubes if you prefer a lighter consistency.

Serving

  1. 6

Garnish each glass with a lemon slice on the rim or drop one directly into the drink.

  2. 7

Serve immediately ice-cold. Anyone who prefers it sweeter can stir in a little sugar directly in the glass.

More tips:

For the richest foam, blend the coffee with water and sugar first. Add the absinthe and ice only just before the end of blending.

Absinthe has a strong anise flavour. Start with a smaller amount and add more to taste. A non-alcoholic version with anise syrup works well too.
