Plum Butter

Povidla

Plum butter is a thick fruit concentrate made by slow-cooking fruit without any added sugar. The most popular variety is made from plums and has a long tradition in Central European cuisine. This dark brown paste with an intense sweet and slightly tart flavour is used as a filling for pastries, doughnuts, crepes, and cakes. It also serves as a base for sweet sauces, gingerbread, and other baked goods. Thanks to its natural sugar and pectin content, it has a long shelf life without preservatives. It is a good source of fibre, potassium, and antioxidants.
