Milk Rice

Mléčná rýže

Milk rice is a traditional sweet dish prepared by cooking short-grain rice slowly in milk, with added sugar, vanilla, or cinnamon. The result is a creamy, gently sweet porridge that can be served warm or cold. Known as Milchreis in Germany and riz au lait in France, it is a classic comfort food across Europe. In Czech and Slovak cuisine, it is most often served with a knob of butter, sugar and cinnamon, or fruit jam. The slow cooking allows the rice to release its starch, creating a naturally thick and velvety texture. It is nutritious, easy to digest, and especially popular with children.
