Švestkový kompot

Plum compote is a popular preserve made from plums conserved in a sugar syrup. Thanks to gentle heat processing, the plums retain their characteristic fruity flavour, natural sweetness and a pleasant tartness. It is served as a dessert, a side to pastries or as part of fruit sundaes. In the kitchen, it also works well as a filling for cakes and buns, or as a topping for pancakes and crepes. Homemade versions are prepared from ripe plums, with or without stones, covered in a syrup of water, sugar and spices such as cinnamon or cloves. It is a beloved part of traditional Central European cuisine.
