Peach Compote

Peach compote is a preserved delicacy made from peaches submerged in a sweet syrup of water and sugar. It is produced either by home canning or industrially, retaining the delicate fruity flavour and soft texture of the peaches. It is used as a dessert, an addition to fruit salads, a filling for cakes and pastries, or as an accompaniment to pancakes and ice cream. Compote is a practical year-round source of fruity flavour, especially outside the fresh peach season. The syrup can also be used on its own as the base for a fruit drink or cocktail.
