Jam

Džem

Jam is a fruit spread made by cooking fruit with sugar to a thick, spreadable consistency. According to European regulations, jam must contain at least 35% fruit, while extra jam must contain a minimum of 45%. The most popular varieties include strawberry, raspberry, apricot, and plum. It is used as a spread on bread and pastries, as a filling for cakes, rolls, and tarts, and also as an ingredient in sauces or marinades. Making jam at home is straightforward, all you need is fruit, sugar, and optionally some pectin for a better set. Jam is stored in sealed jars and kept in the refrigerator after opening.
