Ground Cloves

hrabicek-mlety-01

Ground cloves are produced by milling the dried flower buds of the tropical tree Syzygium aromaticum. Compared to whole cloves, the ground form is ideal when you want to avoid visible pieces of spice in your dish. It has a very intense, sweet and spicy aroma with a pronounced, slightly pungent taste. It is used in gingerbread, mulled wine, Christmas baked goods, curry sauces and various spice blends. Only a small amount is needed, as the flavour is highly concentrated. It is best stored in a sealed container away from direct light to preserve its full aroma.
