Fruit Compote
Fruit compote is a preserved or freshly cooked product made from fruit submerged in a sweet syrup. It is prepared by sterilising whole or sliced fruit in a sugar solution or fruit juice, preserving its natural flavour and aroma throughout the year. It is served as a dessert, a side dish with dumplings or pancakes, or used as a filling in cakes and buns. Homemade compotes are most commonly made from cherries, plums, peaches, pears, or apples. Compared to jam, compote has a thinner consistency due to a higher proportion of liquid syrup.
