Juicy Homemade Burger
Ingredients
Step by step process
Preparing the meat and vegetables
- 1
Make your homemade beef burger: lightly season the ground beef with salt and pepper, then divide into 4 equal portions. Shape each into a patty slightly wider than the bun.
- 2
Slice the tomatoes into rounds. Separate the iceberg lettuce into leaves. Cut the cucumber into thin rounds, and peel and thinly slice the red onion.
- 3
In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise, ketchup and mustard until smooth.
Cooking the patties
- 4
Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat.
- 5
Place the patties in the hot pan and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, until done to your liking.
- 6
Meanwhile, split the buns and, if you like, briefly toast the cut sides in a dry pan.
Assembling the burger
- 7
Spread some sauce on the bottom half of each bun, then layer on a lettuce leaf, the patty, a tomato slice, cucumber and onion.
- 8
Add a little more sauce to the top bun and close the burger. Add extra vegetables or cheese to taste.
- 9
Serve straight away, ideally with fries or fresh vegetables.
More tips:
For an extra juicy homemade beef burger, use mince with a higher fat content (ideally around 20%).
Do not mix anything extra into the meat. Just season lightly with salt and pepper to keep the full beef flavour.
