Sugar Snap Peas

Cukrový hrášek

Sugar snap peas are a variety of pea where the entire pod, including the immature seeds, is eaten. Unlike regular peas, the pod is thin and crisp with no tough inner membrane, so there is no need to shell them. The flavour is distinctly sweet and fresh, making them a popular ingredient in salads, stir-fries, soups, or simply as a snack. They are ideal for quick cooking, a brief blanch or a few minutes in a hot pan is all they need. They are a good source of vitamins C and K, folate, and dietary fibre. When buying, look for firm, bright green pods without blemishes.
