Pumpkin Spice

Dýňové koření

Pumpkin spice is an aromatic spice blend traditionally used to flavour pumpkin dishes. A typical blend includes cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, and allspice. It originated in American cuisine, where it is an essential ingredient in the famous pumpkin pie served at Thanksgiving. Today it is also widely used in Europe, added to coffee, cappuccino, latte, as well as biscuits, gingerbread, porridges, and smoothies. The combination of these spices gives dishes a warming, sweetly spiced flavour and a characteristic autumnal aroma. Ready-made blends are available in shops, or can easily be mixed at home from individual spices.
