Metaxa 5*

Metaxa 5* is a Greek spirit produced by the Metaxa company since 1888. It is a unique blend of aged brandy, sweet muscat wine and herbal extracts, which means it cannot be strictly classified as either a brandy or a liqueur. The stars on the bottle indicate the level of ageing, the 5* expression is aged for a minimum of five years in oak casks. It has a smooth, gently sweet flavour with notes of dried fruit, caramel and delicate spices. It can be served neat, on the rocks, in long drinks or as a digestif. In the kitchen, it is used in sauces, marinades, flambéed dishes and desserts. It remains an iconic symbol of Greek hospitality.
