Green Tea

Zelený čaj

Green tea is an unfermented tea made from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. Unlike black tea, the leaves undergo only minimal processing, which preserves their green colour, delicate grassy flavour and high antioxidant content. It originates from China, where it has been cultivated for thousands of years, and is today one of the most popular beverages in the world. In the kitchen, it is used not only as a drink but also as an ingredient in desserts, ice creams, sauces and marinades, particularly in the form of Japanese powdered matcha. Green tea is brewed by steeping the leaves in water at around 70-80 °C to preserve its delicate aromatic compounds.
