Chestnut Purée

Kaštanové pyré

Chestnut purée is a smooth paste made from cooked and blended edible chestnuts. It has a gently sweet, nutty flavour and a creamy texture. In the kitchen it is used primarily in desserts, the most classic application is the famous French sweet Mont Blanc, as well as fillings for cakes and stuffed pancakes. It also works well as a side dish with game or as a base for soups. Chestnut purée is naturally gluten-free, rich in carbohydrates, dietary fibre and B vitamins. It can be bought ready-made or easily prepared at home from fresh chestnuts.
