Apple bread bake (Žemlovka)

Step by step process
Prepare the base

For this zemlovka, slice the rolls into pieces about 1 cm thick and place them in a large bowl. Whisk the milk with the eggs, half of the sugar and the vanilla sugar, then pour the mixture over the bread. Let it sit for 15 minutes so the slices soak through properly.

Peel the apples, remove the cores and cut them into thin slices. Pour hot water over the raisins and let them plump up, then drain them. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
Layering and baking

Grease a baking dish with butter. Spread half of the soaked bread over the bottom, scatter the raisins on top and lay down half of the fruit. Crumble the curd cheese with the remaining sugar and cinnamon, then spread it over the apples.

Cover with the second half of the bread and even it out with the remaining apples. Drizzle the surface with melted butter and lightly dust it with cinnamon.

Bake for 40 minutes, until the top turns golden and the apples soften. Let the finished dessert rest for 10 minutes so the layers settle, then serve it while still warm.
More tips:
Older rolls or a slice of sweet braided bread work instead of classic rolls. The drier the bread, the more milk it absorbs and the moister the result turns out.
