Sweetie, also known as oroblanco, is a citrus hybrid developed in 1958 at the University of California by crossing pomelo and white grapefruit. The goal was to create a fruit with the sweet taste of grapefruit without its bitterness. Sweetie has green skin even when fully ripe and juicy, sweet flesh. Today it is commercially grown mainly in Israel, where it has become a very popular fruit. It is an excellent source of vitamin C, fiber, and antioxidants.
