Sernik - Polish Cheesecake
Sernik is a Polish cheesecake made from fresh curd cheese (twarog) rather than cream cheese, which gives it a lighter taste than American cheesecake.
The curd cheese is mixed with eggs, sugar, butter and vanilla. Popular variations include sernik with raisins or chocolate glaze. There is also a cold version called sernik na zimno, which is not baked and sets in the refrigerator.
