Parboiled rice - pre-steamed rice full of nutrients
Parboiled rice is rice processed through a special steaming method while still unhusked. During this process, B vitamins and minerals from the outer layers penetrate into the grain's core, preserving higher nutritional value than regular white rice. After cooking, it has a characteristic golden color and firmer texture. The grains do not stick together and hold their shape, making it ideal for pilafs, salads, and dishes where a fluffy texture is desired. Cooking time is approximately 15-20 minutes.
- The parboiling process transfers up to 80% of vitamins from outer layers into the grain core.
- Parboiled rice has a lower glycemic index than regular white rice.
- After cooking, it does not stick and has a pleasantly fluffy consistency.
- The golden color of raw grains turns white after cooking.
