Naan, Indian tandoor flatbread

Naan is a soft, fluffy Indian flatbread made from leavened dough, traditionally baked in a clay tandoor oven. The dough contains flour, yeast, yoghurt and ghee, giving naan its moistness and slightly tangy flavour.

In the tandoor naan is baked stuck to the wall of the oven at temperatures above 400 °C. The most popular variety is garlic naan and butter naan. Naan is served with all types of curry. At home it can be made on a pan or under a grill.
