Basmati rice is an aromatic long-grain rice from the Indian subcontinent. Its name comes from Hindi meaning fragrant. After cooking, grains elongate to nearly double their length and remain fluffy. Before cooking, soaking the rice for 20 to 30 minutes is recommended.
