Tom Kha Gai is a Thai soup made from coconut milk with chicken, a gentler alternative to Tom Yum. The name means boiled with galangal and chicken. Galangal is a root related to ginger.

The soup combines coconut milk with galangal, lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves. Mushrooms and chilli are added. It is seasoned with lime and fish sauce. Ideal for those who prefer milder Thai dishes.
