Stifado - Greek braised beef

Stifado is a traditional Greek braised dish with a rich aromatic sauce and a generous amount of pearl onions. Beef is braised with tomatoes and red wine.

The spices include cinnamon, cloves and bay leaf. It is cooked over low heat for several hours. It is served with rice or bread. Besides beef, it is also made with rabbit or octopus.
