Shawarma - Spit-Roasted Meat

Shawarma is a popular street food. Slices of marinated chicken, lamb, or beef are stacked on a vertical spit and the outer layer is shaved off in thin slices.

In Lebanon it is served in pita bread. The chicken version comes with garlic paste called toum, while lamb is paired with tahini. Sides include pickles, tomatoes, and fries.
