Sacher Torte - Viennese dessert

Sacher Torte is an iconic Viennese dessert and one of the most famous cakes in the world. This cake consists of a dense chocolate sponge layered with thin apricot jam. Covered in a glossy chocolate glaze, the recipe was created in 1832 by young Franz Sacher for Prince Metternich. The original version is still served at Hotel Sacher in Vienna.
