Quiche, French Savoury Tart
Quiche is a French savoury tart made from shortcrust pastry filled with a mixture of beaten eggs, cream and various ingredients. The most famous version is quiche lorraine from Lorraine with bacon and Gruyère cheese.
The word quiche comes from the German Kuchen (cake), as Lorraine sat on the border between French and German culture. Dozens of variations exist today. Quiche is perfect for brunch, picnics or a light lunch.
