Pastel de nata is the most famous Portuguese dessert. Small tarts of crispy puff pastry are filled with a custard of egg yolks, sugar and cream.
They are baked at a very high temperature (around 300 °C) for crispy pastry and dark spots on the custard. The most famous come from Lisbon's Pastéis de Belém bakery. They are dusted with cinnamon and sugar.
