Mačanka - mushroom cream dip with bread

Mačanka is a traditional Slovak dish whose name comes from the word to dip. Thick sauce made from mushrooms, cream and onion is used for dipping pieces of fresh bread. One of the simplest dishes of Slovak countryside cuisine is this dish.

Fresh or dried mushrooms are prepared, which are sauteed with onion and covered with cream. Seasoning includes garlic, salt and pepper.
