Kyselica - sour soup from eastern Slovakia

Kyselica is a traditional soup originating from eastern Slovakia, where it has deep roots in folk cuisine. The base is sauerkraut juice, which gives the soup its characteristic sour taste. Potatoes, smoked meat and spices are added.

Unlike kapustnica, kyselica is lighter and more sour, with fewer ingredients. It is seasoned with sour cream, garlic and marjoram.
