Käsespätzle - Bavarian cheese spaetzle

Käsespätzle is a beloved dish from Bavaria and Swabia. Homemade egg noodles called spätzle are layered with Emmentaler cheese and baked until the cheese melts into every layer.

The dish is topped with crispy fried onions. Käsespätzle is the German answer to macaroni and cheese. The noodles are traditionally pressed through a grater into boiling water.
