Hotteok - Korean sweet pancake
Hotteok is a popular winter street food in Korea. Yeasted dough is filled with brown sugar, cinnamon, honey and peanuts and pan-fried. During frying, the filling melts into hot caramel.
Hotteok originates from Korean-Chinese tradition of the late 19th century. Savoury variants with japchae (stir-fried noodles) and modern cheese versions also exist.
