Donburi - Japanese rice bowl

Donburi (shortened to don) is a Japanese dish consisting of a bowl of rice topped with various ingredients. The name comes from the Japanese word for a large bowl. The most famous variations are gyudon (beef), katsudon (fried cutlet), and oyakodon (chicken and egg).

Donburi originated during the Edo period as a practical meal for workers and is now served at nearly every restaurant in Japan.
