Caldo Verde - Portuguese kale soup
Caldo verde (green broth) is the unofficial national dish of Portugal. The base is potatoes blended with onion and garlic into a cream.
Finely shredded leaves of Portuguese kale and slices of chouriço sausage with a smoky flavour are added. It is served with cornbread (broa). Popular at festivals and as an everyday meal alike.
