Baklava - Turkish nut pastry dessert

Baklava is one of the most famous desserts in the world, claimed by several culinary traditions. Thin sheets of filo pastry are layered with ground nuts (pistachios, walnuts, or almonds) and brushed with melted butter.

After baking, the pastry is drenched in sugar syrup or honey. While Turkey and Greece each claim its origin, baklava is equally celebrated in Lebanese and Moroccan cuisine, with each culture adding its own twist.
